    Heart Disease.
It's the No. 1 killer of Americans, taking more lives than the next fives causes combined. Men, women, children - everyone is vulnerable.

    But there is Hope.
    * At the Hope Heart Program at Benaroya Research Institute scientists study angiogenesis, cell and molecular biology to explore new avenues of combating heart disease.
    * Cardiologists with The Hope Heart Clinical Research Program participate in the trials of the latest medical breakthroughs.

    The Hope is Educating...
Because much of heart disease is preventable,
    * Kids Take Heart, developed by the Hope educators, and Youth Take Heart, in conjunction with the University of Washington and MESA, are teaching kids that it's never too early to care for your heart.
    * Women Take Heart, a community program that targets underserved populations most at risk with key tools for prevention.

    Celebrating 50+ Years.
