We are proud to continue and improve
upon the GREEN focused initiatives we have implemented at
our event. Some of the activities
we have planned this year include:
Asking registrants to
REGISTER ONLINE.
Sourcing an
ORGANIC COTTON SHIRT as
our participant shirt.
Printing our event brochure and
posters on RECYCLED PAPER.
Asking that our event participants
to WALK, BIKE, CARPOOL OR BUS to the event.
 |
|
Sourcing the beer for our beer garden
from the sustainably focused
Fremont Brewing Company.
Be sure to visit their Urban Beer Garden for one of our
pre-race Thursday night training runs. |
Asking all beer garden attendees to
REUSE and recycle their cup.
Revising the rules of our briefcase
relay event so that participants carry
CANS OF FOOD in their briefcases (all food to be donated
to
FamilyWorks at the race end).
Having a secure onsite
BICYCLE VALET area sponsored by
the
Spoke & Food event.
Sourcing
ORGANIC FRUIT for the
fruit we give away onsite.
Having PLASTIC
& GLASS RECYCLING bins onsite and
RECYCLING all the paper,
cardboard, plastic & glass created via the event.
Giving away relevant
USABLE GIFTS
as our age category awards (rather than
trophies or plaques).
Thanks to PCC Natural Markets and
EcoMetro, the first 300 people (60 teams) who register for
the Briefcase Relay will
each receive a CHINOOK BOOK
full of eco-minded coupons.

Inviting local green-focused
programs like the Seattle Weekly's Green Card to become event sponsors and/or onsite
vendors. |

support any of the above initiatives, or if you have any
additional ideas on other things we can do, please
